Center for Grieving Children

Overview


The Center for Grieving Children helps children and families who are struggling with loss due to death. The center is based in Portland, Maine, and serves more than 4,000 grieving children, teens, families, and young adults annually through peer support, outreach, and education. Since its founding in 1987, the Center for Grieving Children has served more than 66,000 children, teens, and their families. Last year, Center volunteers contributed 24,000 hours of support and has grown into a highly respected and hugely appreciated service to the greater Portland community and surrounding areas.

Storytelling School

SWMF trains storytellers through Storytelling School, a free online self-guided course on how to become a storyteller for social good. We also donate services in classrooms to explore issues through the making of their own documentary films.
